Darren Aronofsky Looking To Adapt ‘Serena’

According to reports, Darren Aronofsky and Angelina Jolie are in talks to bring Ron Rash’s 2008 period tome “Serena: A Novel” to the big screen. Jolie would star, while Aronofsky would direct the film. The story follows a man named George Pemberton and his new bride, Serena, as they create a timber empire in 1929 North Carolina. Serena is a driving force for her husband, and pushes him to commit more and more ruthless acts. But when she finds that she cannot have a child, she sets out to murder the son her husband fathered illegitimately. Right now they are looking for funding, and also it is said that work on the script is needed before they can move forward.
