Paul Verhoeven To Adapt Video Game
Director Paul Verhoeven, who is responsible for such films as ‘RoboCop’, ‘Starship Troopers’ and ‘Total Recall’, is looking to adapt a video game as his next project. He just won’t tell which one.
“I am working on a movie now that is situated in 1914,” he explains. “Basically, Indiana Jones-ish you could say, but also Hitchcockian. We are scripting it. It’s an idea that exists already from another medium, and so we are making it now into a film narrative.”
The rumor is that the game in question is 1997’s ‘The Last Express’, which was created by Jordan Mechner (Prince of Persia). It takes place aboard the Orient Express on the eve of the outbreak of World War I. Mechner also helped out with the script for the ‘Prince of Persia’ movie. Although another option cound be the classic game ‘Pitfall.’
