Netflix Renews ‘Altered Carbon’ For Season 2 – And Announces New Series Lead
Netflix has ordered eight additional episodes of Altered Carbon from Skydance Television! The news first surfaced last week along with the announcement that Anthony Mackie (Captain America series, Detroit) will star as Takeshi Kovacs! As much as I loved Joel Kinnaman in the lead role for season 1 – I’m really excited that MCU’s Anthony Mackie will be taking over as we continue to explore where this story is headed after that finale…
For those unfamiliar with the world of Altered Carbon, you may be wondering how the series can retain the same characters – but have them played by different actors season to season. In this world, which is based on the classic science fiction novels by Richard K. Morgan, the journey of Takeshi Kovacs spans hundreds of years, many different bodies, and planets. This allows the story to explore themes of identity, mortality, and the human soul. In this new season, Anthony Mackie will be the new embodiment of Kovacs, as the series continues to expand on these deeper themes and ideas across longer periods of times and different worlds throughout the universe.

Are you a fan of Altered Carbon? I was personally thrilled when I heard the news that series would be returning, it’s one of the most interesting sci-fi series I’ve seen in awhile, and for me, it’s ranking up there with Westworld as far as my current favorite fantasy series!
I’d love to hear your thoughts on season 1 and what you think of Anthony Mackie taking on the lead role for season 2 in our comment section below!
