Brendan Fraser out of ‘Journey to the Center of the Earth 2’

Last month the word going around was that Brendan Fraser would not return for Journey to the Center of the Earth 2 due to New Line and Walden Media looking to make a change in the director’s chair due to original director Eric Brevig not returning due to him being busy with Yogi Bear. Those fears now look to be well founded as it is being reported that Brad Peyton (Cats & Dogs: The Revenge of Kitty Galore) will be taking over the franchise, and due to that, Brendan Fraser is unlikely to return. While Fraser could come back for the film, the current plan is to rewrite the film around the Sean Anderson character, played by Josh Hutcherson in the first film. The first Journey to the Center of the Earth made $242 million worldwide.
