Theatrical Releases for June 11th, 2010

Coco Chanel & Igor Stravinsky (R), Drama – In 1920’s Paris, Coco Chanel has established herself in the world of fashion and Igor Stravinsky, displaced by the Russian Revolution, is living destitute in Paris and suffering from a disastrous reaction to an early production of his ballet. The pair is introduced and the two embark on a passionate affair, which results in a period of great artistic achievement for both artists. Stars Mads Mikkelsen and Anna Mouglalis.

Jerusalema (R), Drama – A young man works his way up in the crime world and build an criminal empire in South Africa during and after apartheid.

Joan Rivers: A Piece of Work (R), Documentary – Documentary about the life and career of comedian Joan Rivers as she turns 75 years old.

Kings of the Evening (PG), Drama – After two year in jail, a man discovers that life on the outside is crueler than the injustice of the chain gang. Stars Lynn Whitfield and Glynn Turman.

The A-Team (PG-13), Action – A team of former Special Forces soldiers are set up for a crime they did not commit. Going rogue, they utilize their unique talents to try and clear their names and find the true culprit. Stars Liam Neeson, Bradley Cooper, Quinton Jackson and Sharlto Copley.

The Karate Kid (PG), Action – A 12-year-old from Detroit is forced to move to China. He immediately falls for his classmate but his feelings make an enemy of the class bully. He knows only a little karate, and the bully puts him on the floor with ease using Kung Fu. He then turns to a maintenance man who is secretly a master of kung fu. He learns that kung fu is not about punches and parries, but maturity and calm and also realizes that facing down the bullies will be the fight of his life. Stars Jackie Chan and Jaden Smith.

The Lottery (NR), Documentary – Four children enter a high-stakes lottery. If they win, they can attend one of the best schools in New York.

Wild Grass (PG), Drama – After examing the ID papers in a lost wallet, it is not a simple matter for the man who found it to turn it in to the police. Nor is it that its owner can recover her wallet withoug being piqued with curiosity about whom it was who found it. As they navigate the social protocols of giving and acknowledging thanks, turbulence enters their otherwise quotidian lives. Stars Sabine Azema, Andre Dussollier and Anne Consigny.

Winter’s Bone (R), Drama – A sixteen-year-old learns that her father has jumped bail. If she cannot find him in 30 days and her father fails to appear for his court date her family will lose their home. Stars Jennifer Lawrence, John Hawkes and Lauren Sweetser.
