‘X-Men: First Class’ May Have Found Magneto

It has been confirmed that Michael Fassbender (Inglourious Basterds) is in final negotiations to play young Magneto in ‘X-Men: First Class’. This likely means that he won’t play a villain in the ‘Spider-Man’
reboot, a role he has also been rumored for.

British actors Aaron Johnson (Kick-Ass) and Andrew Garfield (The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus) have both tested or read for the film as well, likely for the role of Cyclops.

Directed by Matthew Vaughn (Kick-Ass), the film will focus on the early years of the relationship between Charles Xavier and Lensherr, two young mutants who are first discovering their powers. The two are the closest of friends at first, working together to stop a huge global threat. They later become enemies, leading to an eternal war between Magneto’s Brotherhood and Professor X’s X-Men.

The film opens June 3rd, 2011.
