‘Footloose’ Remake Has Cast

Paramount Pictures has announced the completion of casting for writer/director Craig Brewer’s remake of the 80’s classic ‘Footloose’. Newcomer Kenny Wormald will play the lead role of Ren, played by Kevin Bacon in the original. Dennis Quaid will play Reverend Moore (originally played by John Lithgow) while Miles Teller will play Willard (originally played by Chris Penn). They join Julianne Hough (Dancing With the Stars) who was already cast as Ren’s love interest Ariel.

The original film, which was a huge hit for Paramout in 1984, tells the story of Ren McCormack, a teenager who moves to a small town where the local government has banned dancing and rock music. Ren and his classmates want to have a senior prom with music and dancing. They must figure out a way to get around the law and the overbearing Reverend Shaw Moore.
