New Spider-Man Has Been Selected

Sony has chosen relative unknown Andrew Garfield (The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus) to play Peter Parker in the ‘Spider-Man’ reboot. Marc Webb is set to direct the film.

Garfield beat out a host of better-known actors, including Jamie Bell (Jumper), Anton Yelchin (Star Trek, Terminator Salvation), Aaron Johnson (Kick-Ass), Alden Ehrenreich (Tetro), and Logan Lerman (Percy Jackson).

Here’s what director Marc Webb had to say on why he picked Garfield, “Though his name may be new to many, those who know this young actor’s work understand his extraordinary talents. He has a rare combination of intelligence, wit, and humanity. Mark my words, you will love Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker.”

The movie is due out July 3rd, 2012.
