Robert Rodriguez Could Direct ‘Deadpool’
At Comic-Con Robert Rodriguez was asked about the persistent rumors that he would direct ‘Deadpool’, the planned spin-off from ‘X-Men Origins: Wolverine’ that will see Ryan Reynolds reprise his role as the smart-talking, katana-wielding, teleporting “merc with a mouth.”
Rodriguez confirmed that he had received the script, written by ‘Zombieland’s’ Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, but had not yet decided if he would direct the film. Fast forward a week and a new report is out saying that Rodriguez is in active talks to direct the movie, likely after he wraps up ‘Spy Kids 4: Armageddon’ which is currently being filmed for a release next year. Rodriguez is a busy man, with ‘Predators’ still in theatres and Machete coming out later this summer, plus some original ideas he’s putting together.
