Is A ‘The Nightmare Before Christmas’ Remake or Sequel Happening?

A Nightmare Before Christmas Remake

Disney is remaking everything from Cinderella to Aladdin, so we aren’t surprised there are rumors that Disney is interested in a sequel or live-action remake of The Nightmare Before Christmas.

Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas is a stop-motioned musical released by Disney in 1993. The film follows Jack, The Pumpkin King, who tires of celebrating Halloween every year. Jack wanders and accidentally falls through a portal to  “Christmas Town.” After discovering “Christmas Town,” Jack decides to celebrate Christmas instead of Halloween, and terrifying chaos ensues. The film received critical acclaim and was an atypical film for Disney to release considering the creepy content. The film is equally a Halloween and Christmas movie, making it a unique story for fans.

It seems like now would be a great time for developing a remake for The Nightmare Before Christmas. The film is a fan favorite due to its uniqueness and its versatility to both Halloween and Christmas. The characters and animations in the movie would be a challenge to recreate in a live-action remake, but if Disney decides to do one, we think they are up to the task!

The Nightmare Before Christmas Sequel?

In contrast to a remake, Disney may produce a sequel. Is that what fans want? A sequel to The Nightmare Before Christmas is probably more of a challenge for Disney. The ending of the original film is so well-done that it’s hard to see if a sequel would work.

Before you get too excited though, be aware that these are rumors. Unfortunately, nothing is sure for The Nightmare Before Christmas remake or sequel. But with Disney tackling so many other previous projects and bringing them back to the big screen (and doing so with such success – their highest grossing live-action remake was Beauty and the Beast at 1.2 billion worldwide), we can see it happening.
