George Clooney’s Dream Cast for ‘Farragut North’

George Clooney is looking to land some big names for ‘Farragut North’, which will be a big screen adaptation of Beau Willimon’s critically acclaimed play. Clooney wants Philip Seymour Hoffman, Paul Giamatti and Chris Pine to star in the film. Here is a brief synopsis of the film:

“The story is set in Des Moines, Iowa, just weeks before the state’s Democratic caucuses officially commence; it follows the exploits of a twenty-something presidential campaign spinmeister/wunderkind named Stephen Myers, and the dirty pool he plays to get his candidate the nomination against a rival senator.”

According to reports Pine has been offered the part of Stephen Myers, Hoffman the role of Myers’ hard-bitten veteran boss Paul Zara and Giamatti would play the campaign manager of the rival candidate. Word is that Clooney has also reached out to Evan Rachel Wood for the film. She would play a teen staffer with whom Myers has a sexual dalliance. Also, Marisa Tomei has been approached to play the role of a probing journalist.

Shooting for the film is set to begin in February.
