Yedidya Gorsetman Talks ‘EMPATHY INC’

Why, yes! I’d love to see more films like EMPATHY INC. Admittedly I prejudged this movie, almost dismissing it as a potential arthouse film where the narrative and acting are non-existent and the visuals would take precedence. A lot of those kinds of films end up coming my way or flood the local indie film festival scene. Boy was I wrong when it comes to this one though.

Written by Mark Leidner and directed by Yedidya Gorsetman, EMPATHY INC follows Joel, a disgraced venture capitalist, who wants to redeem himself both professionally and in the eyes of his wife and her parents. Could another start-up be the key to financial stability? That’s the gamble Joel takes on his friend’s new virtual reality tech that claims to provide something beyond the VR experiences we know today. There is a hidden cost though, and the currency is Joel’s morality.

EMPATHY INC is an enthralling experience, and I heaped my praises during our interview with director Yedidya Gorsetman. Check it out below!

EMPATHY INC will be available on VOD and DVD come September 24th thanks to Dark Star Pictures.

Synopsis:

Hotshot venture capitalist Joel has a multimillion-dollar deal go up in smoke, and he and his actress wife Jessica are forced to move in with her parents and start from scratch. At the lowest and most desperate moment in his life, Joel meets old friend Nicolaus and his business partner Lester, who are seeking investors in a new technology known as XVR—Xtreme Virtual Reality—from their company Empathy, Inc., which is said to offer the most realistic and moving experiences for users by placing them in the lives of the less fortunate. Joel gets the startup its funds but soon discovers that the tech’s creators have far more sinister uses in store for their creation and that the reality it provides its customers isn’t virtual.
