New Phone? Dare to be Different

Cellphone

What are you really looking for when it comes to your mobile phone? Are you a firm believer that a phone is a phone and should only be used for calls and the occasional text? Of course, you’re not but when it comes to the Apple versus Android debate you remain firmly on the fence and are someone who’ll choose the best phone and not the most easily recognized brand name.

In this blog, we’re taking a look at both iPhone and some of the competition that’s come up against it, to help you decide what your next smartphone is going to be.

For Photographers

Aren’t we all nowadays? If there’s one thing you can rely on, it’s that smartphone cameras are getting smarter and more powerful. Many Android sets, knowing they can’t compete with the branding of Apple, have concentrated their efforts on producing bigger and better cameras. Let’s take a look at how the most recent offerings compare.

Google Pixel 3: Quite honestly this camera is incredible and this is largely due to its smart sensor. With phase detector and dual-lens, this phone is also able to get everyone in the picture with its Group Selfie feature, meaning you won’t have to use one of those annoying selfie sticks any longer.

Huawei P30 Pro: Coming a close second is this mobile phone. With three lenses, superb processing and depth of field that would keep the professionals happy, this camera has to be experienced to be believed.

For Battery Life

The days of having to stop and find a socket to plug into are long gone thanks to instant charging, but which phone comes out on top when it comes to battery life?

iPhone XR: With a whopping 19 hours under its belt this phone delivers and keeps on delivering. It also doesn’t hurt that this iPhone looks the part with a sleek and stylish body and great screen and has all the features you know and love.

Samsung Galaxy Note 10 Plus: This pips the iPhone with 21-hours, which doesn’t result in a compromise of its performance. The Samsung also offers wireless, fast charging.

For Value For Money

The great thing about the top names is that you know exactly what you’re getting. Though the likes of Apple and Samsung improve their products year on year, essentially they are the same product and that’s just fine for us. We appreciate that sense of familiarity, we’re loyal to it and that’s why we go back time and time again.

But if you don’t want to spend hundreds and hundreds of dollars on the latest models from the big names, there are some outliers worthy of your consideration.

OnePlus 6T

You may not have come across this phone but it came out last year and has proved to be an excellent phone in terms of value and performance. Priced at around £500, this phone features fingerprint recognition and facial recognition unlocking. The phone has decent cameras but does not feature a headphone jack and is not waterproof. Fine if you use Bluetooth earphones, not fine if you get caught in a downpour.

HTC U12+

Even cheaper than the OnePlus, this phone features some impressive camera lenses and has a large display. While the performance and battery life are decent, it’s the button set-up that is the phone’s only major drawback. The configuration is such that it’s too easy to touch them by mistake, accidentally locking your phone when you’re right in the middle of something.

While Apple and Samsung go head to head to compete for leadership of the market, there are plenty of options out there that give them a run for their money. If you’re a die-hard iPhone fan and have other Apple products you’re unlikely to be swayed from upgrading to the latest iPhone but when you’re open to offers, the likes of the Google Pixel phone and a Huawei may surprise you with their versatility and performance.

Get the right plan from SMARTY plans and take your photography to a new level with the unlimited storage of the Google phone or the huge, panoramic screen of the latest Samsung. Look for a phone that offers you the best value for money and has most of the features that will make it a good purchase.

Be the envy of all your friends with a camera that ticks all your tech and performance boxes and get online to find that shiny new deal today.
