‘X-Men: First Class’ Filming at Jekyll Island

While ‘X-Men: First Class’ is currently filming in London, the shoot will come to the US later this month. The shoot will travel to Savannah and Jekyll Island (Georgia) at the end of the month and shoot there until the end of the year.

Producers will pay $16,000 for use of a 4.5-acre beach area east of Beachview Drive and the fishing pier at Clam Creek. That fee is established as long as producers at the end of filming agree to provide 375 cubic yards of beach-quality sand at the beach location.

‘X-Men: First Class’ is currently set for a June 3rd, 2011 release date.

  1. Hmm…. hopefully this reboot will be better than the 3rd movie was, Last Stand….

I mean the first and second werent half bad, sure small details here and there were off from the characters that the uber fans know but the casting was correct.

  2. I love the Georgia coast – but I’m kinda confused as to how it’s going to serve as a set in this film.. purely based off what I’ve seen from the previous films.

  3. Well as its further back origins, I am sure we are going to see some new locations having to do with our characters anyways and I am sure this “Georgia” coast will fit in.

  4. Okay well after looking at those pictures I can definitely see that place being used, the right scene taking place there cold be quite interesting to view.

  5. It’ll definitely be beautiful. I’m going to try to get down there before the end of the year to see if I can get any coverage for the site! 🙂 Only 4 hours away!

  6. I believe in the film it is supposed to be Muir Island, which is the homebase of Dr. Moira MacTaggert’s mutant research lab (located in Scotland). Based on the pictures you took I could see this standing in for Scotland. Also, Rose Byrne is playing Mr. MacTaggert so it seems more possible to be true.
