Jared Leto Shares Morbius Research Photo

When we saw the first trailer for Sony Pictures’ upcoming film Morbius, we were ecstatic. There’s something about his story that grips us. Maybe we’re a sucker for the whole ‘a cure at any cost’ storyline… or maybe we’re “rooting for the underdog” kind of people, but it’s heartbreaking to have been made privy to his struggles through life.

The teaser trailer premiered last month and we haven’t been able to stop thinking about it. We’re pretty big Marvel fans here, and fans of Jared Leto too. From the looks of it – he’ll be taking on the role of Morbius with dedication and excitement. He’ll be taking on the role as a fan.

There’s something to be said about teetering on the line of madness. A possible cure for a debilitating disease… a second chance when you’re running out of time. The film and Morbius’ storyline pose the question – how far is too far… when do you accept your fate instead of trying to change it?

Michael Morbius, the antihero with the rare blood disease, isn’t searching for a cure selfishly. He goes into it looking to help save others, too. Isn’t that how all the most heartwrenching stories of antiheroes begin? Someone working to bring good for others and instead, cursing their own life?

We’ll have to see exactly how it all ends for Morbius when the film hits theaters this summer, but we have a feeling it’ll be something both wonderful and heartbreaking all wrapped up in one handsome vampire.
