‘Riverdale’: Skeet Ulrich is Leaving After Season 4 and We Are Upset

When you look at the career of your favorite actor or actress, you can usually pinpoint the moment you fell in love with their craft. For us, in terms of Skeet Ulrich, it was his character, Billy Loomis, in Scream.

From then on, we’ve kept up with every film or series he was involved with. From The Craft to The Magic of Ordinary Days – Ulrich has range. He makes you fall in love with his soft side or tempts you with his charm as the bad boy. He puts his all into each character he takes on, his passion drives his talent.

It’s no surprise when we learned that Ulrich was involved, that Riverdale quickly became one of our favorite television shows. With a killer (sometimes…literally) cast, plot twists that might make some fans tune out (but we sort of…tune in more?), and scenes where FP is now called ‘Sheriff Jones’ – how could we say no?

Today, news broke that Sheriff Jones is hanging up his hat and the sleepy town of Riverdale will be his home no more. Skeet Ulrich is leaving the series. So, we’re understandably heartbroken. We can’t imagine the show without him. While his character doesn’t exactly get the screen time we think he deserves, he’s a really integral part of the series.

TVLine first revealed the sad news with a quote from Ulrich.

“I’m incredibly grateful for the friendships I’ve made on Riverdale, and I will miss seeing everyone on a daily basis. I’m proud to have been part of such a talented group of people, in front of the camera and behind. But I’ve decided that it’s time for me to move on to explore other creative opportunities.”

While we aren’t looking forward to his exit at all, if he has to go, we do hope it’s not going to lead to another Riverdale funeral. We want the door for his character to return (even if for an episode) to stay open. It looks like that idea is on the table with those behind the scenes at Riverdale, too.

Showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa not only broke the news about Skeet Ulrich. He confirmed that Marisol Nichols is leaving too. In his statement, he said they’ll always be welcome in Riverdale.

“Part of life in Riverdale — and part of growing up — is saying goodbye to people. I’m grateful to Skeet and Marisol for their incredible work on the show these last four years, and we all wish them well on their future endeavors. F.P. and Hermione will never be far from our hearts. And, of course, they’re always welcome back in Riverdale.”

We’ve already said some tough goodbyes in Riverdale, but these are really going to sting. Here’s hoping before the series ends – we’ll see F.P and Hermione once again.

Especially FP, we’re going to need him in that Serpents jacket as we wave goodbye to Riverdale once and for all.
