The Ugly Truth Review: Good Morning Heartache

Apparently the Battle of the Sexes is still raging. I guess. Men and women definitely still don’t understand each other, and usually that leads to problems, battles, blood, and mayhem. It’s more than a battle, it is a war. However by the end of the dull romantic comedy The Ugly Truth it was hard to tell who was winning, or why the fight was started in the first place.

Interview: Jeremy Smith from Days Difference

We had a chance to chat with Jeremy Smith of Days Difference about the band’s influences and being in the Hannah Montana movie! Here’s what he had to say:

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince Review: Almost There

Imagine if Raiders of the Lost Ark just stopped after the Nazi’s took Marion off of Katanga’s boat. Or if Star Wars quit right after Han Solo took his reward and split. Both movies were super fun up until that point, but without the opening of the Ark or the assault on the Death Star, they would be sorely lacking. That is the feeling that persists as the final credits roll on Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. A diverting film which serves as more of a second act to a larger narrative this is a movie of promises made rather than promises kept.

We had the pleasure of talking with singer/songwriter Melanie Fiona about her new album, her influences, and plans for touring. Check it out below!

Bruno Review: Zietgiest Mit Bruno

There is little questioning that America, as a rule, dislikes homosexuality. Sure we put up with it, but when there is major support to amend a document designed to guarantee equal rights to all citizens in order to deny rights to Gays then I would classify that as a real distaste. Thus enter Bruno, Sacha Baron Cohen’s second attempt to alienate American audiences, and shove our hypocrisy in our smug faces…oh and make us laugh along the way. With its utter disregard for the lines drawn in the cultural sand Bruno is overtly tasteless and objectively hilarious, but only if you are willing to be objective about the subject and yourself.

Kathy Griffin Review

On Friday night (July 10th) I made the drive to Tulsa, Oklahoma to catch the performance of Kathy Griffin on her most recent tour. For those of you that have little or no knowledge of Kathy Griffin, you have probably seen her at some point. Currently, Griffin has an Emmy award-winning series on Bravo titled My Life on the D-List which chronicles her attempts to move up from her current “D-List” status to become an “A-Lister” by any means necessary.

SyFy Series: Eureka Season 3.5

This season of Eureka picks up right where the last one left us dangling: our beloved Sheriff Carter is a sheriff no more and is preparing to leave small town life for a government job. General Mansfield brings in a replacement for Carter: Sheriff Andy, who is well prepared to take up the position, if not a little strange. You’ll see what I mean. Trouble starts up when a trees fall and block a road, with nothing seeming to cause it. When the problem begins to escalate, Carter and Andy have to work together to save the town.

New Sci-Fi Series: Warehouse 13

Being the geek that I am, when I saw the ad for Warehouse 13 I immediately thought of that goofy episode of Fullmetal Alchemist with the “haunted” warehouse. Certainly there could be no relation, and indeed there isn’t. The ad got me intrigued, though, and I was pleased to be able catch a glimpse at the show before it officially aired.
