‘Caprica’ Gets Cancelled; Two HBO Shows Get Full Seasons

News arrived today for television fans of a cancellation and two season pick-ups, proving this Fall season is much like a roller-coaster ride of ups, downs, and on edge anticipation.

The bad: After airing only half a season, Syfy has already pulled the plug on the highly anticipated (but poorly rated) Battlestar Galactica prequel, Caprica. With no warning signs of a cancellation, network programming executive Mark Stern found is necessary to comment on why the sudden cancellation, saying:

“We appreciate all the support that fans have shown for Caprica and are very proud of the producers, cast, writers and the rest of the amazing team that has been committed to this fine series. Unfortunately, despite it’s obvious quality, Caprica has not been able to build the audience necessary to justify a second season.”

Stern also informs fans that Syfy will pull all unaired episodes of Caprica from the schedule Tuesday, Nov. 2. However, Caprica isn’t lost forever in the cancellation files: the series will air once again at some point in 2011 [along with the unaired episodes].

On a happier note, HBO has given third season pickups to both Bored to Death and the Will Ferrell-produced Eastbound & Down!

Caprica fans, are you shocked to see the series go so soon?

  1. I am really not happy about this at all! Caprica was my favorite of att the BSG Series. I hope they at least have some kind of closure to the series with the last episode when they get to it.

  2. Still not happy with Caprica either. 🙁 Hopefully with them pulling the unaired episodes to air in 2011 will get some kind of closure before they launch the new Battlestar series.
