NBC Developing ‘Problem Child’ Reboot

If you were an 80s baby then there’s a good chance that you saw the comedy Problem Child at some point during your childhood (the original and sequel were definitely two of my favorite films). Well, as seems to be the case with many a things from our collective childhoods, producers are looking to bring the classic back and a tv adaptation of the film, starring late actor John Ritter, is in development.

Bosses at NBC network have recruited The Hangover II writer Scot Armstrong to pen the script for the small screen comedy, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The original movie starred Ritter and his real-life wife Amy Yasbeck as a couple who adopt a troubled kid Junior, played by child star Michael Oliver, who has been brought back and forth from an orphanage 30 times.

The film spawned two spin-offs in the 1990s, as well as an animated series, which ran for two seasons.
