Ariana Grande and Jessie J to Remake ‘The Boy Is Mine’

Pop stars Ariana Grande and Jessie J are teaming up once more to cover Brandy and Monica’s R&B classic “The Boy Is Mine”.

Super-producer Rodney ‘Darkchild’ Jerkins reveals he has recruited the “Bang Bang” collaborators to rework the 1998 tune, which he co-wrote and produced, for his upcoming 20th anniversary project.

Jerkins has also called on British soul star Sam Smith to perform a cover of Whitney Houston’s “It’s Not Right, But It’s Okay”, which was originally released in 1999.

Further details about the album, which is expected to hit retailers next year, have yet to be released.

Now, I think this duet is a classic and just shouldn’t be touched. Brandy and Monica were 90’s icons and this is yet another unnecessary remake in a long line of unnecessary remakes, reboots and redos.
