Cirque du Soleil Corteo Heads to Atlanta August 29 – September 2

Corteo

Cirque du Soleil brings magic back to Atlanta in their latest show Corteo for seven shows at the Infinite Energy Center Aug. 29th through Sept. 2nd. Corteo, which means ‘cortege’ in Italian, is a festive parade all imagined by a clown. The clown pictures his own funeral taking place, but this isn’t a sad experience but a fun carnival atmosphere where through a timeless celebration takes place where illusion teases reality, all while angels watch from above.

Acts that make up Corteo include; an acrobatic ladder set, where a ladder specialist balances on a series of ladders, all in an attempt to reach an angel that is watching from above, six artists that jump on two 600 pound rotating beds performing acrobatic feats, four acrobatics perform aerial acrobatics on three giant chandeliers high in the air. Other acts include a Hula-hoop act that you won’t believe, juggling, teeterboards, and a death defining finale that will keep you on the edge of your seat.

In a first for Cirque du Soleil, Corteo uses a rotating stage in two, which each half of the audience facing the other half. This gives the audience not only a view of the performance but also gives them a performer’s eye view of the audience itself. There are over 260 costumes used for the Corteo’s cast.

The cast is an international one, representing more than 15 nationalities. Performers are from Belarus, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, Finland, France, Hungary, Italy, Japan, Kazakhstan, Romania, Russia, United Kingdom, Ukraine, United States, Uzbekistan and more.

So come out to Infinite Energy Center and see Corteo and the wonders of Cirque du Soleil Aug. 29th through Sept. 2nd.
