Sci-Fi You Know and Love: Joe Mallozzi, Gigi Edgley, Tamsen McDonough, and Thom Allison

Rounding out the Virtual Pop Carpet was the panel “Sci-Fi You Know and Love”!

Participants Joe Mallozzi (Stargate), Gigi Edgley (Farscape), Tamsen McDonough (Incredible Hulk), and Thom Allison (KillJoys) joined me to discuss how the future is SyFy. 

The backbone of so much programming – whether cable, broadcast, streaming, webisodes, your YouTube skits – is Science Fiction! We know it, you know it, I love it and finally, the industry seems to know it! With the new procedures Hollywood will have to put in place for this new normal, galaxies and aliens not only would be a great escape for a general public currently living in cages but would also be practical. You could utilize fewer crowds, create more CGI, and put actors in face masks/helmets etc… 

Nearly everyone I’ve spoken to on this carpet echoed a growing concern about the con life and industry. It’s how they connect with fans, meet new friends, and grow awareness for a genre that was once an outcast to the general public. For now, though, The Virtual Pop Expo fills a void people were sorely missing; connection
