Is a ‘Community’ Movie Happening? Finally?!

Community

Is a Community movie happening? That’s the question that fans of the series have been asking since the finale aired in June of 2015. And with the show now on Netflix and Hulu, the fanbase has grown considerably over the last few years with new diehard fans that have binged their way through the series.

Not familiar with the show? If you’re a geek, you should be watching it. The series follows an incredibly talented cast – featuring Joel McHale, Alison Brie, Donald Glover, Chevy Chase, Gillian Jacobs, Danny Pudi, Yvette Nicole Brown, Jim Rash, and Ken Jeong – just to name a few.

Community was based on Dan Harmon’s own experience with community college, and the series aired for 6 wonderful seasons before it was canceled. Since then, fans have rallied for a film and… well… now might just be the time.

In a recent conversation with The Wrap, Harmon, had this to say about the possibility of a film.

“I can tell people for sure that the enthusiasm for ‘Community,’ both for all of this time and the resurgence of it on Netflix, there’s always an aspect of that affects the marketplace, and when the marketplace gets affected, conversations happen. And when conversations happen, things happen.”

He went on to talk about the family that Community built – with humor – and how they keep expectations low.

“I mean, when you’re part of the ‘Community’ family, you learn never to raise expectations, keep ‘em nice and low and then be pleasantly surprised. So I can say that there are conversations happening that people would want to be happening and that I’m very, very excited about the coming months.”

We’ll have to wait and see how it all plays out, but this all sounds pretty positive! Keep your fingers crossed, we would love to see a film sometime soon!
