Could Seth Rogen and James Franco’s New Movie ‘The Interview’ Start A War with North Korea?

It seems that Seth Rogen and James Franco’s latest comedy flick has reeeeallly done it this time. North Korean leader Kim Jong Un has gotten wind of the project and word is he’s not happy about it. North Korean officials have even gone so far as to call the film “a most wanton act of terror and act of war.”

The film revolves around Rogen and Franco’s characters being roped into the CIA’s plot to assassinate Kim Jong Un, and the real-life leader isn’t taking the film or its jokes lightly. The executive director of The Centre for North Korea-US Peace and an unofficial spokesman for the regime in Pyongyang, Kim Myong-chol, told The Telegraph, “There is a special irony in this storyline as it shows the desperation of the US government and American society.”

This isn’t the first time the North Korean dictatorship has been made fun of by Hollywood…people still quote the crude, yet popular, film Team America, which many will recall painted Kim Jong Un’s father and Noth Korea’s former leader, Kim Jong-Il, in a negative light.

The official description for The Interview  is as follows:

In the action-comedy The Interview, Dave Skylark (James Franco) and his producer Aaron Rapoport (Seth Rogen) run the popular celebrity tabloid TV show “Skylark Tonight.” When they discover that North Korean dictator Kim Jong-un is a fan of the show, they land an interview with him in an attempt to legitimize themselves as journalists. As Dave and Aaron prepare to travel to Pyongyang, their plans change when the CIA recruits them, perhaps the two least-qualified men imaginable, to assassinate Kim Jong-un.
