Lindsey Buckingham
I got a chance to listen to Lindsey Buckingham’s latest, self-titled solo album (his 7th solo release) and needless to say I am not disappointed. While not his best work, it is still a good mix of arrangements and melodies, although his classic guitar playing is really not as strong a presence on this album as his others. As a follower of the Fleetwood Mac ‘machine’, which I am borrowing and paraphrasing from an article I read in which Stevie Nicks used this as a reference to the band, Lindsey was able to write and produce some ‘commercial’ type songs or hits if you will with the group, but he definitely does not look to do that with his solo work. Although, he did have pretty good success with the song, ‘Trouble’, from his first solo album as well as, probably what he is most known for as far as his solo career, ‘Holiday Road’, from the ‘National Lampoon Vacation’ movie.
I love both his work with Fleetwood Mac (and am excited, but cautious, about the latest rumors that he is going to join them again) as well as his solo stuff. This is another album that is a testament to his songwriting and music skills so I definitely say give it a go.
