Voyagers
Ok, well I have to say I am pleasantly surprised that what I thought was going to be a bad film turned out to actually be pretty good. ‘Voyagers’ was not something that I thought would appeal to me after having watched the trailer. However, I could not have been more wrong about the story that I thought was going to be drab and boring. This is a good sci-fi flick with some pretty good action, solid performances, and thought-provoking messages about the decisions we make and their long lasting impacts.
I am not big into science fiction myself so I did not have high hopes or expectations. But the story from the get go was intriguing, with scientists on Earth trying to save the human race by relocating a new generation- 86 years later – of people to populate a new planet due to the Earth’s resources and supplies running out. So a new crew of young people are selected – rather created to go – and Collin Farrell decides to volunteer and go with them since he feels like they are his kids, even though he knows he will die in space. 10 years into the trip is when things happen and two of the young me realize they are being drugged with a drink that prevents them from having emotions, feelings id urges.
Once they decide to quit drinking the ‘blue’ as they call it, all you-know-what breaks loose and the action begins. It is a fast paced, suspenseful film and keeps you glued to your seat. There are a few predictable moments but everything else outshines those moments and it has a great ending.
Pretty good popcorn flick I must say!
