FanBolt’s username generator lets you create millions of username ideas. Whether you’re looking to represent your favorite fandom or you want a totally random username, you can generate endless possibilities with our tool.
The Username Generator
Need more options?
Hit “Generate More Usernames”, and we’ll give you 30 more names for consideration. Alternatively, check out our DND name generator if you need more name options that are a bit more geeky!
How It Works
Our generator will give you 30 names with every click of the generator button. The only thing that is required is that you need to pick at least one category.
From there, it’s up to you! Include a 2nd category, a custom word or name you choose to enter, or even a number. Take advantage of our algorithm below to create the perfect username for you!
Want more options than the first 30 usernames that are produced? Simply hit the generate button again and produce another set of random usernames.
Feel free to use the generator as many times as you need to create a username that is perfect for you or your social media accounts!
Need something different than a username generated? Try our Gamertag Generator, Fantasy Name Generator, Superhero Name Generator, or our Random Name Generator (which is great for writers!).
Let’s Get Geeky: The History of the Username
Interested in the geeky history of usernames? You know we like to keep it nerdy here at FanBolt.
The first recorded use of the term “username” was in 1971. MIT was operating the Compatible Time-Sharing System which contained several terminals that used the “username” and “password” as we know them today.
Over the following decades, usernames and passwords evolved from the techy world of mainframes and networks to the home computer and other devices. And still today, we’re watching another wave of evolution happen in this area with the use of social logins and the single sign-on (SSO).
As far as what the future will hold, Google announced that it’s actively working on a new authentication system that will complement traditional passwords, but we’re still waiting to see what that will look like!
