Katy Perry Confirmed for Super Bowl XLIX Halftime Show

Katy Perry has officially landed the coveted headlining gig at the Super Bowl halftime show.

The hitmaker had been among the top choices for the show since August, but it wasn’t until Sunday that she was officially named the headliner of the Pepsi Super Bowl XLIX Halftime Show in February.

Perry, who is currently on tour in Australia, took to Twitter to share the exciting news and wrote, “My band is in the other room screaming at the TV (and each other) over this Cowboys-Giants game. Can’t wait for February 1st… And I’ve already started testing out ideas!”

A video promoting her new gig was was also released, showing Perry at a “halftime show testing facility”, where she pitched ideas such as covering the stadium in edible glitter and having a robot drummer.

The annual football match will take place at the University of Phoenix Stadium in Arizona.
