Weekend Box Office Report: ‘The Possession’ Holds On To #1


The Possession held onto the box office crown for the second weekend bringing in $9.5 million to retain the #1 spot. Holding onto #2 was Lawless, the period crime drama starring Tom Hardy and Shia LaBeouf which brought in $6 million for its second weekend. Opening modestly at #3 in its opening week was Bradley Cooper’s The Words bringing in just $5 million. Slipping one spot to #4 in its fourth week was The Expendables 2. The action flick brought in $4.8 million. The Bourne Legacy also dropped one spot, down to $5 in its fifth week with $4 million.

2. Lawless – $6 million ($23.5 million total)
3. The Words – $5 million ($5 million total)
4. The Expendables 2 – $4.8 million ($75.4 million total)
5. The Bourne Legacy – $4 million ($103.7 million total)
6. ParaNorman – $3.8 million ($45.1 million total)
7. The Odd Life of Timothy Green – $3.7 million ($43 million total)
8. The Campaign – $3.5 million ($79.5 million total)
9. The Dark Knight Rises – $3.3 million ($437.8 million total)
10. 2016 Obama’s America – $3.3 million ($26.1 million total)
