‘Ginny and Georgia’ Season 2 Expected Release Date News, Cast, and More

Ginny And Georgia Season 2

Since 52 million households watched the first season of Ginny and Georgia within the first 28 days of its Netflix release, it’s no surprise the original series has been renewed for Season 2! Ginny and Georgia Season 2 promises to dive deeper into the twists and turns presented in Season 1.

How far can Georgia really run from her past? How will Ginny continue into the future as she continues to complicate her present?

Here’s everything we know so far about what’s to come in Season 2!

Ginny and Georgia Season 2 Production

On April 9, 2021, Netflix announced the renewal of the hit ten episode show, which is good news for the fans, cast, and crew. Season 1 ended on so many cliffhangers that it’s hard to imagine not getting a second season of this hit TV show.

Despite the early announcement of the Netflix renewal, production is still in its infancy. Production is set to begin on November 29, 2021. And it should wrap on April 8, 2022.

The official Instagram page posted on October 13, 2021 that they were “Gearing up to film season two,” and posted a throwback photo from production in Season 1.

Filming will take place in the same locations in Toronto. Blue Ice Pictures, Critical Content, and Dynamic Television will all have a hand in the Season 2 production.

Ginny and Georgia Season 2 Cast

We have hints as to who will be returning in Ginny and Georgia Season 2, thanks to the announcement video released in April. Creators Debra J. Fisher and Sarah Lampert announced the return of the show on YouTube with a video that featured some of the cast. Check it out below.

Of course, you don’t have a show without Ginny, played by Antonia Gentry, and Georgia, played by Brianne Howey. Their return is a given.

Random side note, FanBolt’s editor actually spotted Antonia Gentry in actual Georgia (Atlanta) over summer 2021 while doing some furniture shopping! Antonia picked up a vintage designer couch from a local used furniture store, and it had us all in awe (Namely, our editor who had been eyeing the couch for over a year)! She shared a picture of her purchase on her IG stories. (Seriously though, how amazing is this beautiful couch?!)

But back to the Season 2 cast news!

In addition to the titular characters, we can expect Diesel La Torraca to return as Austin, Ginny’s brother. Raymond Ablack will return as the owner of the Blue Farm Cafe. We’ll see Sara Waisglass as Maxine, Felix Mallard as Marcus, Maxine’s brother, and Jennifer Robertson as Ellen Baker, their mom. Mayor Paul will return, as played by Scott Porter.

Ginny and Georgia Season 2 Plot

Antonia Gentry (Ginny) gave the press a bit of a teaser, stating that Ginny and Georgia Season 2 is, “a roller coaster ride. Even I don’t know the full details, but I am on the edge of my seat. I know it’s going to be a full package of just excitement and plot, and craziness.”

Since the star of the show doesn’t even know all the details, there’s plenty of potential for what direction the show could take us in. However, there are some key cliffhangers from the final episode that the writers can’t ignore when crafting Season 2.

So Many Questions

Did Ginny and Austin really run off for good? If so, where were they headed?

Will Ginny’s relationship with Marcus go anywhere?

Is Georgia really going to marry the mayor? What does her daughter Ginny think of all this?

Will the police finally catch up with Georgia and uncover her dark past?

Gentry had even more hints for fans; she spoke with TV Line, and we now have a better idea of where she’s going.

She says, “When she’s [Ginny] packing her bag, she grabs the book that Zion gives her, and if you were paying attention when Zion arrives and is giving her the book, you know that he included an address. He has that secret coded message in it, and she finds out that it’s his address to his Boston apartment. So I’m thinking it’s pretty reasonable to assume that Ginny might be headed toward Zion.”

The end of Season 1 also implies that we might see Austin’s dad return. Based on Georgia’s reaction to Ginny mailing letters to him, when she furiously asks if Ginny put their return address on them, we can safely assume that Georgia will not be pleased if and when he arrives.

The actor who portrays Mayor Paul, Scott Porter, thinks there’s room for his character to break free from his straight-laced persona. He told HollywoodLife that, “As far as Mayor Paul goes, I have had questions since day one about where he came from because of the things that he says in the show…He’s multifaceted, yet very direct and focused. So what made him that way? I’m really excited to discover more about his family and where he came from.”

We’re excited too, Scott! Thank goodness it was renewed for a second season!

Ginny and Georgia Season 2 Release Date News

Since production just got started in November 2021, there is no official release date yet for Ginny and Georgia Season 2. Most sources are giving their best guest, saying the “best estimate right now is that Ginny Georgia Season 2 will squeeze onto Netflix in mid-to-late 2022.”

We’re sure the Netflix renewal will have just as big, if not bigger, release than Season 1. But hopefully it won’t rely on another (well-deserved) shade-throwing tweet from Taylor Swift to get traction.
