Rain Review: A Talented Tribute Band And Four Generations Of Beatles Fans

RAIN - A Tribute to the Beatles

I strolled into RAIN – A Tribute to the Beatles with fairly high expectations. I have seen a number of Beatles related shows in the past – from LOVE in Las Vegas to the touring BEATLEMANIA NOW, however I’ve been underwhelmed with various aspects of all these performances. After all, we’re talking about the Beatles. That’s a lot to live up to.

It was eerie to me exactly how much RAIN resembled BEATLEMANIA which I saw several months prior. While I was unable to neither confirm nor dismiss (via the internet) whether or not it was the same band, the audience certainly seemed to have a different reaction to this performance.

All in all, the entire show was well put together. The band performed fan favorites such as ‘Strawberry Fields Forever’, ‘Blackbird’, ‘Eleanor Rigby’, ‘Twist and Shout’, and a wonderful encore featuring ‘Let It Be’ and ‘Hey Jude’. There were even video clips accompanying the music taking us through the eras in which the Beatles reigned. All of the music was performed live – a feature that other Beatles tribute shows can’t claim.

While vocally the band certainly was not the Beatles, they still did a good job. Joey Curatolo (Paul McCartney) is definitely worth mentioning as he was the most talented and vocally similar to the real deal. The rest of the band gave a solid performance, and the audience loved it – partaking in as much of the action as they could with clapping, singing, and dancing. There were four generations of Beatles fans present in theater and waving peace signs in the air, it was definitely an experience that I won’t forget.

It’s an entertaining show. I think the only thing to remember going into this is that you shouldn’t compare them to Beatles. You’ll be disappointed and you’ll miss out on a great show. This is about the music and a very talented band paying tribute to a much loved group which defines a musical era.
