Chris Martin Agrees to Curate the Global Citizen Festival for Next 15 Years

Chris Martin has signed on to curate the Global Citizen Festival for the next 15 years.

Martin’s festival boss stint will officially kick off in September on the Great Lawn of New York’s Central Park when he stages a massive star-studded event to raise awareness about global hunger and poverty.

Announcing his new partnership with the Global Poverty Project CEO Hugh Evans and the festival’s creative director Richard Curtis last week, the rocker told Billboard.com he turned to Live Aid pioneer Bob Geldof for advice on how to make the annual event a big deal and a big awareness and fund raiser.

He said, “I spoke to Bob and said, ‘How can we help?’ Everyone has this togetherness vision, which sounds a little hippie at first, but the more you think about it, the more it makes sense. The reason we wanted to get involved with (Global Citizen) was because they include everybody.”
