Kanye West Apologizes to Beck for Grammys 2015 Outburst

Kanye West has publicly apologized to Beck almost three weeks after the rapper staged a silent protest at the Grammy Awards when the rocker picked up the Album of the Year honor.

West briefly took the stage at the prizegiving in Los Angeles and appeared ready to interrupt Beck’s acceptance speech, just like he did at the MTV Video Music Awards in 2009 when Taylor Swift beat his pal Beyonce to the Best Female Video trophy, but he reconsidered his actions at the last minute, smiled and returned to his seat.

He later lashed out at Beck in an aftershow interview, insisting that the singer should have handed the accolade to Beyonce, because she was the more obvious winner.

While Beck brushed off West’s comments, the rapper later admitted that he hadn’t listened to the singer/songwriter’s Grammy-winning Morning Phase album prior to his outburst, and after hearing the record, he confessed it was actually “kinda good”, and had even obtained Beck’s contact information to apologize to him.

And on Thursday, West took to Twitter to show his remorse in a public forum, and wrote, “I would like to publicly apologize to Beck, I’m sorry Beck.”

West also apologized to singer Bruno Mars, who he also previously disrespected, and invited the Uptown Funk singer to join him in the studio for a collaboration on his new record, which he is producing with Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs and longtime collaborator 88-Keys.

West wrote, “I also want to publicly apologize to Bruno Mars, I used to hate on him but I really respect what he does as an artist. I also would love for Bruno to sing this hook on this song 88 Keys/Puff and I produced… I even asked (rapper) Tyler (the
Creator) to shoot the vid (video).”

Beck and Mars have yet to respond to West’s apology.
