Elizabeth Banks Wants ‘Power Rangers 2’

Elizabeth Banks is hopeful for Power Rangers 2.

The 43-year-old actress stars as the villain Rita Repulsa in the upcoming reboot of the popular superhero franchise, and has said she thinks the movie “speaks to young people” and would be “down for whatever” when it comes to reprising her role for a possible sequel.

She told ScreenRant.com when asked about whether or not she sees a future for her character: “I mean, we are just here in this moment right now… Hoping that the fans embrace the movie, hoping people love it, you know? I think, I mean I love it, and I had so much fun, I think it’s really fun, I think it speaks to young people, in a great, fresh way, um I love this cast, so I’m, I’m down for whatever, but I… I don’t predict the future; I don’t predict the future.”

The news comes after Lionsgate previously revealed there could be “six or seven” Power Rangers movies, though it is unknown whether or not any of those would still include Banks’ character.

Lionsgate CEO Jon Feltheimer said previously: “We are really, really excited about the ‘Power Rangers’ movie. We could see doing five or six or seven.”

The Power Rangers movie will re-imagine the origins of the action heroes – who are a group of high school kids given extra-terrestrial powers – as they battle it out against Rita Repulsa with the help of their mentor Zordon, played by Bryan Cranston.

The Rangers themselves will be played by Becky G as the Yellow Ranger, Ludi Lin as the Black Ranger, Naomi Scott as the Pink Ranger, Dacre Montgomery as the Red Ranger and RJ Cyler as the Blue Ranger.
