‘The Amityville Horror’, which was already remade in 2005 by Andrew Douglas and starred Ryan Reynolds, is going to have another makeover. According to reports the Weinstein Company and their horror wing Dimension Films have acquired the rights. The 2005 version did reasonably at the box office earning over $100 million. It also gave Ryan Reynolds a new career direction.
At the same time it appears troubled studio MGM also holds rights to ‘Amityville’ and is planning a separate set of films. This could lead to one of the oddest cinema rivalries ever.
