‘Planet of the Apes’ News

It is being reported that the ‘Planet of the Apes’ reboot previously called ‘Caesar’ is now titled ‘Rise of the Apes’, and has been given a June 24, 2011 release date. Rupert Wyatt (The Escapist) has been announced as the director, working with a script by Amanda Silver (The Hand That Rocks the Cradle) and Rick Jaffa (The Relic).

WETA Digital will be handling the effects for the film, which will use photo-realistic apes instead of actors in monkey suits. The official logline for the film says: “Rise of the Apes is an origins story set in present-day San Francisco. The film is a reality-based cautionary tale, where man’s own experiments with genetic engineering lead to the development of intelligence in apes and the onset of a war for supremacy.”
