Megan Freels Johnston Talks Female Filmmaker Empowerment

Fresh from TBUFF, I noticed a surge in female filmmakers, and the unique perspective they bring to the art of cinema. Perhaps it was coincidence or fate that FanBolt was invited to interview up-and-coming director Megan Freels Johnston. Her film  The Ice Cream Truck, which looks at a horror hidden within the nightmare known as suburban life, captures the look and feel of some classic John Carpenter films.

Wanna watch Megan’s films? Check out The Ice Cream Truck and Rebound both on Amazon Prime! Director Johnston can be found on social media at Twitter and Instagram! Johnston is the granddaughter of novelist and screenwriter Elmore Leonard, whose works were adapted into Get Shorty and Jackie Brown.
