‘Green Lantern’ May Kill ‘Deadpool’ Movie

Rob Liefeld, the creator of the ‘Deadpool’ comic, made a series of posts to his Twitter feed recently to discuss some hurdles that the movie based on his comic is facing. He said, “Warner Bros. just trying to protect their investment. They don’t want Ryan Reynolds playing Deadpool AND Green Lantern. Interesting 2 watch.”

“Bottom line about Deadpool film is that if FOX doesn’t pull the DP film together with Ryan Reynolds between GL films-they should Hari Kari Ryan.”

“Reynolds is the new Will Smith, if FOX can’t maximize this window of opportunity with this star, this character, that script=MASSV FAIL”

Michael Oldenberg (Harry Potter & the Order of the Phoenix) was brought in last week to work on a script for the second ‘Green Lantern’ movie amid rumours that Warner wants to make a trilogy. If the second and third films in that trilogy are shot back-to-back next year, Reynolds would not have time to make ‘Deadpool’. The first ‘Green Lantern’ is now in post-production and is set for release on June 17, 2011.
