‘The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo’ Officially Cast

Daniel Craig (Quantum of Solace) and Rooney Mara (A Nightmare on Elm Street) have been officially cast in the lead roles for David Fincher’s upcoming adaptation of ‘The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo’. The deal also guarantees the pair will be back for the second and third films in the series, which will be based on the books ‘The Girl Who Played with Fire’ and ‘The Girl who Kicked the Hornet’s Nest’.

The casting of Craig as disgraced journalist Mikael Blomkvist had been rumoured for a while, but Mara as the brilliant bur troubled hacked Lisbeth Salander is a new development. Salander helps Blomkvist investigate the mystery of a missing young woman. Mara has previously worked with director David Fincher on the upcoming release ‘The Social Network’.

The movie will start filming in Sweden next month, with a release date of December 1, 2011.
