Seth MacFarlane Will Host The 85th Academy Awards

Family Guy creator Seth MacFarlane will host the 85th Academy Awards and bring his fresh brand of comedy to the prestigious ceremony on February 24 next year!

Seth released a statement saying: “It’s truly an overwhelming privilege to be asked to host the Oscars. My thoughts upon hearing the news were, one, I will do my utmost to live up to the high standards set forth by my predecessors; and two, I hope they don’t find out I hosted the Charlie Sheen roast.”

Producers Craig Zadan and Neil Meron commented: “We are thrilled to have Seth MacFarlane host the Oscars. His performing skills blend perfectly with our ideas for making the show entertaining and fresh.

“He will be the consummate host, and we are so happy to be working with him.”
The ‘Ted’ director has been nominated for 13 Emmys and two Grammys over the course of his career and is best known for comedy cartoon series Family Guy, Cleveland, and American Dad.

He was also chosen to kick off comedy program Saturday Night Live‘s 38th season, receiving rave reviews by critics.

The funnyman recently suffered a mishap while presenting an award to the Reality Show Host Emmy Award winner when he spoke into a switched-off microphone.

Seth joked: “This is what happens when you don’t come to rehearsal. That’s gonna be on YouTube.”

The comedian follows in the footsteps of illustrious Academy Award hosts including Billy Crystal, Steve Martin and Whoopi Goldberg.

  1. I have no idea who this person is, but it will be nice to see a new face hosting at the Academy Awards. I can’t wait for the nominations.

  2. It’s interesting. That’s all I will say. Apparently he hosted a Roast recently on of the networks and the performance wasn’t as desirable as some fans would have liked. It’s definitely a change of pace for the Oscars though… They usually go for a bigger name. That being said – the few times I’ve interacted with Seth – he’s been super cool. I don’t think I’ve ever seen him without a glass of whiskey in his hand…. even at 10am… haha 🙂
