‘Defiance’ Cast and EP Drop Hints on the Back Half of Season 2

Executive Producer Kevin Murphy and the cast of Defiance took the time to talk to press at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con International. FanBolt had the opportunity to talk to Julie Benz, Jaime Murray, Stephanie Leonidas, Jesse Rath, and the EP himself.

Julie Benz opened up about what’s in store for her character in the upcoming season, revealing, “At the end of episode 6, we saw that Amanda, you know, had quit Adreno for two weeks, so she is starting to get her life back together. She’s trying to figure out who would have put implants in her, an EGO implant, that doesn’t make any sense. So… yeah we do start to see her getting certain parts of her life back together. But she’s surrounded by certain people who don’t have her best interests at heart and…. she’s kind of in the cross-hairs of danger.”

Kevin Murphy talked season 3 set up, saying that “At this point last year, between season one and season two, my talking point when I was doing this conversation with everybody was in season two we’re going to basically flip up the chessboard and knock all the pieces every which way. We’re doing the same trick, but instead of it being people in the town, we’re knocking over the chessboard for planet Earth. And where we’re going is the way that the governments and the interactions of the various empires, that’s going to all change up for season 3 and Defiance’s role is going to be very, very different…The threat for this season is a lot bigger than a bunch of Vulge coming in to destroy the town. It’s quite a big larger than that.”

Check out the press interviews in the videos below! (If you only have time for one of these, make it Kevin Murphy. It sounds like there’s a lot left to see in this season!)

Now was it just me, or was it strongly implied (especially by Jaime Murray) that Kenya is still out there, alive and kicking? And I’m almost scared to watch the “heartbreaking” scene between Grant and Irisa coming up in episode 11.

Defiance airs Thursdays on Syfy at 8/7c.

More coverage from Comic-Con 2014 to come as we post our interviews!
