‘Better Call Saul’ Creator Vince Gilligan Is Not Returning to ‘The X-Files’

Before he was the creator of hit series’ Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul, Vince Gilligan worked on The X-Files.

Naturally, when plans for the limited return of the show were announced, and since X-Files vets Glen Morgan and James Wong confirmed that they will be returning to the series behind the camera, many fans have wondered if Vince would step back in and be involved in some way . It seems we now have our answer.

Vince Gilligan worked on over seven seasons as a writer-producer for The X-Files and The Better Call Saul executive producer admitted that we would not be returning to the series during a Reddit Ask Me Anything discussion this week saying:

“Unfortunately I won’t be writing for the reboot, because my work on Better Call Saul will keep me from doing that. I’m very sad to miss out, because I would love to have a hand in The X-Files reboot. The X-Files was my second favorite job ever, a close second to Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul, and I’d love to be a part of it. Rest assured, I will be watching it as a fan. I can’t wait to see it.”

Morgan and Wong worked on the series during its original run and will write and direct one episode each when the show returns.

Are you bummed to hear about Vince not being able to return to the limited event series?
