MTV’s ‘Scream’ Has One Killer Cast (and the New Promo Isn’t Bad Either!)

The premiere of MTV’s Scream TV series is getting closer and closer. Today the network has debuted a new promo for the horror series, along with giving fans a breakdown of the cast.

This Scream will be a Scream for a whole new generation, but judging from the promo’s we’ve been getting, could stand a chance of holding its own against Wes Craven’s classic film. The new promo showcases more bloody moments of terror from the show and a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it glimpse of the reworked Ghostface mask.

According to the network, the series picks up when a cyber-bullying incident results in a brutal murder. The shocking violence stirs up memories of a killing spree from the past that has haunted some, intrigued others and maybe just inspired a new killer. A group of teens – with two old friends struggling to reconnect at its heart – become lovers, enemies, suspects, targets and victims of a killer who’s out for blood.

Here’s the cast of MTV’s Scream, with pictures and descriptions per the network (click on each picture to enlarge):

You also can watch the new promo and read a detailed description of the series, thanks to MTV, below:

When Nina, a gorgeous entitled teen at Lakewood High School, is murdered in an apparent crime of passion, it exposes the inner workings of the town’s complex social hierarchy. After Audrey, a young artistic loner, is “outed” via cyberbullying, she has to find a way to hold her head up high with the help of Noah, her nerdy, hyper-intelligent best friend, and a renewed relationship with Emma, her former “bestie” from elementary school. In the meantime, Emma’s mom, Maggie (the town’s medical examiner) works with the town’s sheriff, Clark, to solve the murder and determine if it’s connected to a crime spree from the town’s dark past — a murder spree committed by a previous generation’s “bullying victim” Brandon James.

Scream premieres Tuesday, June 30th at 10:00 p.m. ET/PT on MTV.
