‘The Walking Dead’ Star Jon Bernthal Joins ‘Daredevil’ as The Punisher

Jon Bernthal’s most recognizable role to date has to be his portrayal of Shane in AMC’s hit series The Walking Dead, but that could all change once the new season of Marvel’s Daredevil premieres.

The announcement that Bernthal would join the Daredevil cast in the show’s second season was made today on Marvel’s website. The actor will play Frank Castle aka The Punisher, one of Marvel’s most popular characters and a vigilante who aims to clean up New York City’s Hell’s Kitchen by any means necessary, no matter how lethal the results.

“Jon Bernthal brings an unmatched intensity to every role he takes on, with a potent blend of power, motivation and vulnerability that will connect with audiences,” said Jeph Loeb, Marvel’s Head of Television in a statement. “Castle’s appearance will bring dramatic changes to the world of Matt Murdock and nothing will be the same.”

The second season of Marvel’s Daredevil is scheduled to hit Netflix in 2016. Also premiering in 2016 is Bernthal’s latest film The Accountant, which filmed in Atlanta and co-stars Ben Affleck, Anna Kendrick J.K. Simmons and more!
