John Boyega Geeks Out Over ‘Star Wars’

John Boyega is about to see his career explode, when Star Wars: The Force Awakens hits theaters tonight at midnight!

Learning director J.J. Abrams had cast him in the mega blockbuster was a surreal moment for the 23-year-old, who admits time froze upon hearing the news. He soon found himself on set, but forgot to take any mementos from his time at Pinewood Studios.

“I had my phone all over that set. I’ve got selfies, I’ve got videos,” he laughed to Britain’s Metro newspaper of being allowed his phone on him.

“(I didn’t get any props but) I’m going to go back and just demand things – then I’ll eBay them to myself, because, as a fan, I want the experience of buying it.”

As a mega admirer of the franchise, which Disney acquired from George Lucas in 2012 for $4 billion, being around the original actors was a real treat for John. However it wasn’t Harrison Ford or Carrie Fisher that got him most excited.

“There was this CCTV camera in the corner watching us read it and as I turned the pages I heard someone say (adopts C-3PO’s voice): ‘Well, this is a bit much, isn’t it?’ It was actually Anthony Daniels! THAT was a bit much!” he laughed.

John’s world hasn’t altered too much yet, but with The Force Awakens poised to be the biggest movie of all time, the British star knows it’s only a matter of time.

“This morning I woke up, I found my cat peed on my top, got in a car and came here,” he admitted. “I think people like X Factor-up this experience. OK, in a couple of weeks life might go crazy but for now it’s actually quiet mellow and chilled.

“Achieving something like this so early on in my life has kind of made me concentrate on the simple things. The next dream is to get some sleep. And to get a cat shaver so the extra fur can’t keep spreading around the whole house.”
