Tor Teen Says ‘Own Your Magic’ at Comic-Con@Home Panel
One of my favorite parts of Team FanBolt’s annual pilgrimage to San Diego International Comic-Con has always been the opportunity to cruise the publishers’ booths to find out what I need to add to my own reading list. We might not be in the convention hall this year, but Comic-Con@Home still delivered a great line-up for the book nerds among us. I happily settled in on Sunday to hear about four fantastic new titles included in Tor’s Own Your Magic sampler for SDCC.
The panel, moderated by Charlie Jane Anders, featured Bethany C. Morrow (A Song Below Water), Sarah Henning (The Princess Will Save You), TJ Klune (The Extraordinaries), and Mark Oshiro (Each of Us a Desert). Each author had the opportunity to discuss their new books, and let me tell you, this is a lineup of compelling novels with diverse protagonists claiming their own power. From Bethany C. Morrow’s novel about a Black siren forbidden from using her voice to TJ Klune’s “queer coming-of-age story about a fanboy with ADHD,” these books cover a wide range of viewpoints and invite the reader on journeys beyond the four walls that many of us have grown heartily tired of in recent months.
If you’re interested in a peek, the sampler is still available here. Once you’re hooked (and I’m betting you will be), links to the individual books as well as others in Tor’s Own Your Magic slate can be found here.
Happy Summer Reading, everyone!
