‘All American: Homecoming’ Season 3 Cast: Who Is Returning and Who Is Leaving?

All American: Homecoming Season 3 Cast

The green light for All American: Homecoming Season 3 has fans of the football drama spinoff eagerly awaiting new episodes. With Nexstar’s acquisition of The CW, a number of series were cancelled. And while All American: Homecoming was renewed, fans won’t be seeing all of the cast returning in the same capacity due to budget cuts.

So that leaves fans asking? Who will be in the All American: Homecoming Season 3 cast? Here’s what we know and exactly what has happened to cause the changes.

Changes with All American: Homecoming Season 3

All American: Homecoming follows Simone Hicks, who leaves Los Angeles for Atlanta, Georgia to pursue a pro tennis career at Bringston University. Nkechi Okoro Carroll created the series, which is a spinoff of All American., which The CW also renewed. The original series is heading into its sixth season.

The most recent season of All American: Homecoming aired its season finale on March 27, 2023. And it wasn’t long after when The CW renewed the show for season three, along with a few other legacy shows on the network.

There was a fair amount of change at the network, which left fans with only a handful of the network’s main series, including All American, Superman & Lois, and Walker.

Fewer Episodes for Season 3

All American: Homecoming Season 3 will have fewer episodes than the previous seasons, with 13 episodes instead of 20. The reduced episode count was due to Nexstar’s acquisition of The CW and the company’s goal to make the network profitable.

With that in mind, it is also worth wondering who would and would not be returning for the coming season of All American: Homecoming.

Cast Changes

It has been confirmed that there will be changes in the cast, especially among the show’s regulars. Fans can expect a few characters to appear in fewer episodes because of budget cuts. But either way, you can still look forward to seeing them in whichever episodes they’ll be in.

Peyton Alex Smith

Smith, who plays the show’s original male lead, Damon Sims, will not be returning to All American: Homecoming Season 3 as a series regular. The actor will likely return in a recurring capacity. This is sad news for those expecting Simone and Damian to be together for Season 3. Even if Simone ended up choosing Damon, we might not get to see them a lot.

Smith’s demotion from being a series regular comes as a surprise. Damon was present since the backdoor pilot of the spinoff. Smith has also publicly talked about his love for his character. In an interview with Nerds of Color, Smith talked about his experience working on All American: Homecoming.

“We all laugh and joke like that every day. We’re next to the All American cast as well, so I get to see them. I just love coming to work and seeing people that look like me, and who are still acting and are professional at the highest level.”

Even though fans might not see Damon as much anymore, it would be a chance for the minor characters to emerge as leads with their own storylines.

While Smith is known for playing Damon, he is also best known as Rafael Waithe in Legacies. Smith has also appeared in The Quad, Mad Money, Carter High, Luke Cage, Detroit, and Tales.

Hyde’s character is the captain of the tennis team who also happens to be Damon’s ex-girlfriend, who still carries a torch for him. Thea is known for being rude, rebellious, and very competitive. Thea becomes threatened with Simone’s talent, becoming her rival for Damon’s affections.
