Lewis Makes History With U.S. No. 1 Album

LEONA LEWIS has made history by becoming the first British solo artist ever to
score a number one in the U.S. album chart with a debut LP.

The former The X Factor winner claimed the top spot in the Billboard 200
album chart by shifting 205,000 copies of her debut album Spirit in its first
week of release.

Spirit, which has already sold over 2.5 million copies worldwide in the last
six months, saw off competition from last week’s (ends11Apr08) number one,
Troubadour by George Gait, which only sold 59,000 copies.

The accomplishment makes Lewis the first British solo act to top the
legendary countdown since Rod Stewart released Still The Same… Great Rock
Classics Of Our Time in 2006.

Lewis also scored a U.S. number one single with Bleeding Love – the first
British woman to do so since Kim Wilde in 1987 with her cover of the Supremes’
hit You Keep Me Hangin’ On.
