1961 – Brian Epstein saw the Beatles play at Liverpool’s Cavern Club. He would later become their manager.

1962 – Motown Records released the classic Miracles song, “You’ve Really Got a Hold on Me.”

1963 – The Kingsmen’s “Louie, Louie” was released.

1967 – David Crosby quit the Byrds, and went on to form Crosby, Stills, and Nash a year later.

1967 – In San Francisco, the first issue of Rolling Stone was published, with John Lennon gracing the cover.

1973 – Cat Stevens performed on television for the first time, on ABC’s “In Concert.”

1973 – Billy Joel released his classic album Piano Man.

1975 – David Bowie served as a guest on Cher’s CBS TV show.

1999 – Prince released the album Rave Un2 The Joy Fantastic.
