James Spader Joins ‘The Office’ As A Series Regular

After much buzz, it’s official Office fans! James Spader will be joining The Office next season as a series regular! Spader will be playing CEO Robert California of Dunder Mifflin’s parent company, Sabre.

Spader will be replacing Kathy Bates’ character as scheduling conflicts took Bates away from the series (Bates is currently starring in Harry’s Law).

The decision for Spader to replace her came about after his appearance as someone trying to take Michael Scott (Steve Carell)’s job. Still no word on Carell’s replacement – Everyone from Will Ferrell, Ricky Gervais, Will Arnett and series stars Ed Helms, Craig Robinson and Rainn Wilson are all being considered for the job.

  1. I loved James Spader’s character on The Office. His “powers” of persuasion over the group were hysterical, and he is one of the few actors who can pull off such an over-the-top incarnations.
